Suspension, brakes and tyres
Tyre sizes change in 1999. Read the swingarm label.
Workshop pad minimum is 1.5 mm. The MOT line is different.
Sag and spring rates are not published.
Your own risk. Wrong jetting or timing can seize the engine. This is information, not advice.
How many steps: 2
Step 1 of 2
Tyre sizes and pad limits are stock figures.
Haynes, 1993–1998: front 110/70-17, rear 150/60-17. From 1999 the manual lists more than one approved size, including a 100/80-17 or 110/70-17 front and a 130/70-17, 140/60-17 or 150/60-17 rear. The approved brand is the one on the swingarm label. Friction material, workshop minimum: 1.5 mm. DVSA: a lining worn below 1.0 mm is a dangerous defect. The 1.5 mm figure is the stricter service figure. Neither number is an upgrade. A tyre size that is not on the swingarm label, or a compound with no approval mark, is To verify against that label and the current MOT manual before anyone calls it legal.
Step 2 of 2
Sag, springs and a shock upgrade are not sourced.
Fork oil quantity is 430 cc a leg, SAE 10W to 20W, measured with the spring out and the leg extended. An RS125 oil level is not published. Rider sag and spring rates are To verify. No sourced aftermarket shock, fork cartridge or brake upgrade was adopted for 1993–2006. A listing with the year and the part number would close that. The 2006 bike’s brake description, radial in the model notes and four opposed pistons in Haynes, stays on the chassis spec page as the existing conflict.
